Remarks

• shells maximum 45 mm in height
• colour usually brown with blotches of white, orange or purple.
• can be separated from the other species of the genus Volachlamys by its smaller size and its less sharp ribs:
  
  

  	less sharp ribs of Volachlamys fultoni
  	square and sharp ribs of Volachlamys singaporina



• Another closely related species from the eastern part of the Indian Ocean is Volachlamys tranquebaria (Gmelin, 1791) but the interspaces between the ribs of V. tranquebaria are smaller with sharper ribs
